Moving from physical to cloud question.

Current server is:
GenuineIntel, Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.00GHz with 2 gigs ram Centos 5 plesk 9
Cloud Server is:
1 x 2.0 GHz Core - 1 GB Ram centos 5 plesk 10.

Current usage is 1.2 gigs free of 2 gigs ram and loads are 1.76; 1.44; 1.14 on average.

Will the cloud server need the extra gig of ram or does the virt cpu make up for it?

Thanks.

mod_sec with a full set of rules, and clamd with a full set of rules (especially the safebrowsing list) takes a heck of a lot of memory. Take a look at "top", and you'll see how clamd in particular takes masses of memory.

Our busy server, which is 300 or so domains, uses 800 to 900Mb if you look at the ASL memory usage graph (or other tools), so you'd think 1Gb would be OK, but nevertheless requires that we configure Virtuozzo to give the container at least 1.5Gb otherwise things go wrong. This may be an issue with Virtuozzo memory management, which can be a bit wierd to say the least.

I had bad luck with a cloud from 1and1. The cloud platform may make a difference. Kernel control may make a difference.
