Freshclam error message

Unread post by ryanz »

Ater installing the ART rpm for Clamav on RH9 I get this error when trying to run freshclam:

ERROR: Parse error at line 46: Unknown option DNSDatabaseInfo.
ERROR: Can't parse the config file /etc/clamav.conf

After the install I found that clamav.conf is located at /etc/log.d/conf/services/clamav.conf

A complete removal and re-install of the rpm was done and now freshclam and clamd has these errors:
-bash: /usr/local/bin/freshclam: No such file or directory
-bash: /usr/local/sbin/clamd: No such file or directory

Any advice?

are you positive just clamav was upgraded? last week i ran yum update and it installed both:

ucspi-tcp-0.88-4.rh90.gamera.i386.rpm
qmail-1.03-25.rh90.gamera.i386.rpm

i couldn't believe how much trouble i had with qmail afterwards. I did notice in my clam.conf file that it pointed to different directories...ie: PidFile was trying to write to a directory that wasn't there.

was there a previous version of clamav? try doing a search on rpmsave files. yum renames config files if it has to overwrite them with a new file.

if this was a new install, cp the /etc/log.d/conf/services/clamav.conf file to /etc. see if that does the trick.

I just did yum install clamav and it seemed to install fine.

However, nether clamd nor freshclam works and it gives these errors:
-bash: /usr/local/bin/freshclam: No such file or directory
-bash: /usr/local/sbin/clamd: No such file or directory

i remember i had to reconfigure my qmail-queue-scanner.pl file. use /var/qmail/bin/qmail-scanner-reconfigure. it will re-read everything and reconfigure your scanner to use the correct location of your clamd files.

i didn't notice this file until i took a peek in this directory. hope that helps.

Thanks for the advice.
The problem is I'm not using qmail-scanner but I'm using Odeavir.
This works just fine on another RH9 Plesk 6 server but it doesn't work in this specific case and I've done exactly the same install.
