Would love to see node.js for el5 x64 in atomic. I hate Epel and really dont want to use it if I can at all avoid it. It causes so many problems....

Why do you hate EPEL? What problems is it causing you?

It breaks openvas, has issues with pyaml, etc.

also always wants to overwrite the atomic packages, and fcgid, and sometimes it doesnt even give us packages that work.

I actually appreciate the EPEL repository very much. They follow the strict RHEL-like package guidelines and make sure that they never overwrite existing packages in the base repositories. The response on requests does vary from time to time, but the same goes for the Atomic repo. See also http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/EPEL/FAQ# ... vatives.3F

Of course, if you are using the Atomic (and/or ASL) repositories (which does have overlap with other repositories) you should make sure to set up your yum repo config properly to prevent conflicts. Saying that EPEL is the culprit isn't entirely correct IMHO.

Tip: use includepkgs in your yum repo config if you only want to use EPEL for specific packages.

Or better yet, dont use epel. Lets keep this thread on topic please.

Request received, node.js will be something we'll add to quantum/atomic/nucleus in the near future.
