Install order with vm's

Unread post by landofnull »

When installing a fresh linux install. What is the order of operations.

centos/redhat

vmware tools

cpanel

asl

i assume that is the order. I just wanted to get a second opinion. The vm network adapter the vmxnet option. when i install everything esxi reports the vmware tools are not running. It is not a issues just a question.

Also linux hates when you swap the vitural network adapters. is there a quick a dirty way to allow all adapters on reboot like it was a fresh install. moving vm's becomes a pain.

You are correct. Install ASL last.

More than likely they just need to be configured for the kernel. vmware includes a small set of pre-compiled modules for the most basic kernels, anything else they want you to compile them for that kernel.
