Kernel Bug Intel Atom C2750

Unread post by zyza »

I recently spent some days trying to install ASL on a new server.

It seemed that after I installed the ASL kernel I could no longer access the server.
I rebooted and watched the console output and on googling the result it suggested a kernel error.

I rebooted with a standard kernel and all was fine.

Tried again with the ASL Kernel , same problem.

I raised a ticket and this is the response from Mike Shinn
Your network didnt start with the newer kernel. It appears to be a driver problem with the newer kernel and the hardware, a bug report has been opened with the kernel development team to investigate this further.
So if anyone is considering a machine with an Intel Atom C2750, you may want to rethink that.

this is a 1and1 system right? I think this might be network card related, we ran into a problem with their hardware on this AOOI thread:

Yes it is 1and1 , I have 2 servers from them.

One server is fine and uses the atomic Kernel, this new one does not.

Eth0 is just nowhere to be seen, I just tried the fix you mentioned but that did not work.

I even tried removing /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules and that has not helped.

Maybe it would be easier to try a different server altogether.
