I think this article detailing a hacker attack on a server was quite an interesting read.

In the same vein, if you find a giant gaping security hole, going public with the information you got from said hole is probably not a smart idea. Still, you have to boggle that they had reported holes unfixed after a major data breach. I doubt he'll face charges but who exactly won here? Not this guy and certainly not U of M.

Yeah that was stupid. there are a lot of other venues for that kind of disclosure that are perfectly legitimate.
