4psa-SpamGuardian, qmailscanner, ClamAV, Plesk 7.5.4

Hi,

I've been having nightmare with Qmail server.
I had qmailscanner running on Plesk 7.5.3, then I upgraded Plesk to 7.5.4. After upgrade successfully finished, I realised that qmailscanner is not working, so I reinstalled qmailscanner. Everything seems to run perfectly well (my emails were scanned for virus and spam) then I realise I start to send and receive multiple copies of emails (this happens across all domains).
Has anybody had this problem before?

Strange thing is I have spamassassin and 4psa-spamassasin, when I stop one of them the other will stop as well and vice versa.

Please help!!

Hi Scott,
I uninstalled qmailscanner then qmail start to rejecting emails saying that it is unable to create entry in the queue. I have no choice but to install qmailscanner again and then qmail starts to work and of course I still getting multiple emails.

that sounds like the qmail-queue binary is mangled, although mail shouldn't work at all when that happens. What does /var/qmail/bin/qmail-queue* look like?

Hi Scott,

Not sure what you mean by the qmail-queue's look. The content of the qmail-queue is unreadable.

If you mean the files' property, here they are
-rwsr-sr-x 1 qmailq qmail 4647 Mar 30 09:25 qmail-queue
-r-xr-xr-x 1 root qmail 158652 Nov 22 17:16 qmail-queue.drweb
-r-xr-xr-x 1 qmailq qmail 16012 May 6 2005 qmail-queue.orig

We had a SPAM attack in Nov 2005, we have 200.000 emails in the queue. Someone deleted those queues manually. We got pass the SPAM attack, but mail server hasn't been working smoothly after that.

Any ideas?

Ah, dr.web isnt operational on your system is it? The two packages are definitely not compatible.

I've uninstalled Dr.Web but the qmail.queue.drweb is still exist.
Do I have to delete it?

Do you think the existance of qmail.queue.drweb causes the duplicates mail problem?

The only thing that I can think of that would cause the duplicates is if your .qmail files have ./Maildir/ in them multiple times.

If I have duplicates ./Maildir/ in .qmail I will get duplicates for all the emails but in fact it only happens occasionally. I have done lots of testing but I can not find a pattern let alone what causes it =(.

Thanks Scott for your helps. I’ll keep on looking.

I have found on my system fc2 Plesk 7.5.4 that when I remove qmail-scanner, qmail always starts rejecting the messages. I have to re-install psa-qmail every time to get it working. You could try that to see if qmail will not duplicate if qmail-scanner is not installed.
