I will appreciate your help with the following question:

Is it possible to install OpenVAS without the web based GUI?
(And then control it only from the shell/CLI)

If yes, can you please provide me instructions for installing the product without the web GUI, or instructions to remove the Web GUI after complete installation of OpenVAS.

The Web GUI portion is provided by Green Bone Assistant Daemon (gsad). You can stop the daemon, not open the firewall port for it and/or remove the package (greenbone-security-assistant)
