OpenVas Unbuntu 18.04.1 LTS OpenVas9

Hi,
I am having trouble getting the OpenVAS Scanner to start. It seems to time out.
I am starting with a fresh up to date version of Ubuntu 18.04.01
I can install openvas via the cli ... versions are as follows:
Greenbone Security Assistant 7.0.2
OpenVAS Manager 7.0.2
OpenVAS Scanner 5.1.1
OMP Command Line Interface 1.4.5
If I run openvassd -f I get something like.
I have the feeling I am fighting some kind of configuration issue with the stupid socket /tmp/redis.sock (which is present)
What do I tweak?
