Migrate PSA7 > PSA8 then wipe?

I was wondering if anyone had tried migrating off their server and then wiping it for a new install. Does this work well? I need to reimage but I have the dilemma of having important sites that need as much uptime as possible currently. I can rent a server on a daily basis to migrate off to but am weighing options.

Any feedback is welcome

I recommend setting up another box, or vmware image if you don't have one. That way you can test things out, make a backup there, etc without having to take down your production box.

Generally, I've had pretty good success with the migration agent, with some minor things that wouldn't come over (weird characters in usernames, etc) that required a manual transfer.
