We had been running the same setup on our proftpd for a long time, with no issues at all. Issues started when last month our provider, theplanet, had a major outage, and some parts of the data center where destroyed. Once they restored their service, proftpd was unable to work again with TLS enabled...

CentOS 5, Plesk 8.4, can I use the repo?

Hello,

I wanted simply to know if I can use ART's repository if I have a CentOs (32 bit) 5 machine with Plesk 8.4. I need the repository mostly to update php and mysql, as I did in the past.

Thanks!

Upgrade from Red Hat Linux 7.3 (!!!)

Hello there - I found myself with two old RH 7.3 and a RH 8.0 server in my hands, and I wanted to ask you what would you suggest me for a system upgrade. Is a full re-imaging of the servers the only solution I have, or are there realistic chances of doing a system upgrade to any existing distro? And...

Scott, thanks for the extremely detailed information! ASL is in the #1 spot in the list of things to do as soon as we have finished developing our CMS and we have enough resources upgrade our system(s). Simply put, the possibility of having all this in a unique package saves dozens of hours we have ...

Securing PHP - death to safe mode!

I wanted to ask all the nice people in here which are the steps you follow to secure your PHP installation. In addition to basic active and passive system security (tmp set as noexec, limit permissions on system executables where possible, keep your system updated, aide, chkrootkit, rkhunter, watchd...

php 5.2.2 rebuilt, yum still trying to install ART's rpms

Hello! I have downloaded and recompiled ART's 5.2.2 packages to add tidy support. So far, no problems. I edited the php.spec file, rebuilt the packages, and installed them. PHP works fine, version is 5.2.2. ANYHOW, when I run yum check-update or yum update, yum wants to install ART's 5.2.2 packages,...

One question - anybody had to do some extra steps upgrading from mysql 4.1 to mysql 5?

I have rebuilt the php package to add some extra options I seriously needed, so I should install mysql 5 separately.

Thanks!

I think updating Fedora Core to a newer version via yum should be really easy. Try look at the Fedora website; or if you want to use CentOs (another good choice), search more information in their wiki.

I did a couple of FC updates in the past via rpm, and they worked flawlessly.

Custom compiled rpm, then back to ART

Hello, I have a bit of difficulty understanding how yum works. I need to install a more recent version of PHP on my server, but at the same time, I do not want to stop using ART in the future, once new updates for PHP are available. So, I wanted to create a custom RPM with some custom options (tidy,...

Scott, I need to upgrade php, and I was ready to use your 5.1.6 package, then I read this - should I wait for 5.2?
