New CentOS 5.1 Installation steps...

Unread post by no1youknowz »

Hi Guys,

First time plesk user here. Can someone clarify with me, that these are the steps to get Plesk 8.3 running Under CentOS 5.1?

This isnt all correct, but just want to get the methodology right...

- CentOS - "Server" Install No base.
- Run install script : wget -q -O - http://www.atomicorp.com/installers/atomic.sh |sh
- Run ASL script: wget -q -O - http://www.atomicorp.com/installers/asl.sh | sh

Install Apache, php, mysql, spamassassin, postfix

- Yum install apache, php, mysql
- Yum install spamassassin, clamav, razor, dcc and postfix

FTP ??
- Yum vsftpd

Install plesk

wget http://download1.swsoft.com/Plesk/Plesk ... tOS_5_i386
wget http://download1.swsoft.com/Plesk/Plesk ... rpm.tar.gz

Run the script...

-------------

Will this get me up and running or is there more I need to do? Can someone experienced in an ISP solution gimme more info?

Thanks :)

Plesk comes with ProFTPd, so don't install vsftpd. There is no need to install apache yourself as the Plesk installer will do that. Also, don't install postfix, Plesk comes with qmail. Also you do not need to download the complete archive of Plesk packages, the installer will download what it needs.

General setup:

1. minimal OS install
2. install Plesk using the installer from swsoft.com
3. run 'yum update'
4. add the atomic channel if you want that (I guess you want qmail-scanner and friends?)
5. install ASL if you've got a subscription
6. reboot to boot the latest CentOS or ASL kernel

You also might want to read the Administrator's Guide: http://www.swsoft.com/en/products/plesk/docs/

Thanks for answering my Q's. I got it all installed and working last night.

I mentioned postfix as I know that and dont (yet) know qmail.

I see that 8.2 brought in postfix, am I right? Is it possible to use postfix instead?

Thanks

Postfix is supposedly on the roadmap for Plesk, but I believe it's scheduled for Plesk 9 now.
