I experienced similar after an update, ASL automatically runs asl -s -f -t (I think?) which fixes the errors. Maybe Scott can confirm this, I notice from this forum, it catches a few people out, so maybe it needs to be documented more clearly?

asl -f puts it i to fix mode and can fix any discrepancies, its always recommended after an update to the asl package.

asl -u updates the rules and then run after an asl -f

Theres a check event that runs every hour to update that. Its kind of performance intensive, which is why we couldn't make it a real time in the gui.

Scan mode: asl -s
Scan/Fix mode: asl -s -f
Scan/Fix mode with different formatting : asl -s -f -t
