ASL on 512 mb VPS and atomic scanner

Unread post by humpy »

The features on ASL especially atomic scanner have me drooling, as I have already wasted many hours trying to set up sware and logging/graphing info that is still only 1% as good as A-Scanner looks.

However from what I have read in the ART forums, I am thinking that trying to load ASL on a VPS with only 512 ram would totally overload it ?

The rest of the security packages are also very attractive.. If the whole setup would kill my server, could you advise perhaps on any of the components that are available in opensource , that would be very useful, but not heavy on resources, as the only way I have been able to work this out normally, is by installing , and then uninstalling when I have made a poor choice ,...
- otherwise I will just sit gnawing my knuckles until atomic scanner is released on its own hopefully in the future

I reckon 1024MB RAM would be a sensible minimum for ASL/Atomic Scanner.

Go on... Upgrade the RAM & subscribe to ASL. If you value your time/effort then this will cost less in the long run.

I know for a fact that people run ASL in VPS's with that much ram now.

We may break Atomic-Scanner out into its own product eventually, if you're interested in that go ahead and vote for it here: http://atomicrocketturtle.com/forum/vie ... php?t=2529

I would love to goto 1024, except I do not have a great number of paying clients, and upgrading VPS plan to 1MB is a large jump in cost/month, and would make the server financially unviable :(

You'll certainly be able to scale with that little ram if you stick with 32-bit guest OS's. 64-bit systems by nature will use a lot more ram doing the same things.
