I have migrated from a server with 8.0.1 to a new server with Centos5, Plesk 8.6 and ASL.
My temp licence has expired, and I need to get the licence from the old server to the new one, and would appreciate some advice.
If I simply upload the PLSK.xxxxxxxx.xx23.sh (the one running on the old server no longer operating any clients/domains) onto the new licence, I asusme I will get a conflict?
The old server does not seem to have the ability to delete the licence before then installing it on the new server.
The licence I was emailed by SW Soft was PLSK.xxxxxxxx.xx19.sh. I THINK that the licence automatically updated itself, because the SW Soft email did say:
"** Auto-Renewal:
This Parallels Plesk Control Panel key has a built-in expiration date.
This has been implemented to help prevent fraud and theft. It requires the Parallels Plesk Control Panel software to check back with Parallels'
licensing system during a 10 day grace period [prior to the expiration date] to verify that the key has not been reported stolen and is being used in accordance with the End User License Agreement. Once this is verified, the expiration date is auto-updated."
Can someone tell me how I should get the licence working on the new server?
Many thanks in advance.
Advice on migration & Plesk licence
Re: Advice on migration & Plesk licence
You need to find the psa.key file on your old machine. That's the file you'll need to upload in the Plesk panel.
I don't know if you can move it across boxes, tho.

Re: Advice on migration & Plesk licence
Thank you Highland. SW Soft gave me the new key that I needed.

Latest PLSK.xxxxxxxx.xxxx license file has been resent to you. Please upload the key to the new server. (PLSK.xxxxxxxx.xxxx was the licence showing on the Plesk Control Panel, so it was necessary for me to get this from them anyway).
Please, open the License Management screen in Plesk: Server > License Management > Upload Key
Enter the path to the key file that you saved on your local machine or click Browse to locate it.
Select the Replace the currently installed license key with the selected one check box to confirm that you really want to replace the current license key with the new one. (if this check box is not selected, the new license key will not be installed and installation will be aborted).

To remove the license file from the old server, you can remove the commercial license and change it with the default one(PLSK.00000000.0000):
# ls -la /etc/psa/psa.key.default
cp /etc/psa/psa.key /etc/psa/psa.key.old
# mv /etc/psa/psa.key.default /etc/psa/psa.key
Or you can simply shut down the server/uninstall Plesk if it is no longer needed on the old server.
