update plesk 8.6 to 9.01

Do you really need to do this? It will bring nothing but pain and grief unless there is a feature in Plesk 9 that you absolutely must have.

Re: update plesk 8.6 to 9.01
What worries me is what's going to happen next? Is Parallels going to learn from the abomination that is Plesk 9, or is this the end of the line?
On the positive side, the distinct lack of Plesk 9.1 (which really really should have been out now) might indicate they have realised they have made a horrible mistake and they are doing something about it. On the other hand maybe they have just been concentrating on something else, like Parallels Desktop or Server, or something.
Faris.

Re: update plesk 8.6 to 9.01
Plesk 9 is still in beta for the most part. Postfix wasn't even part of the official beta!
I don't think Plesk 9 is awful, tho. I remember that 8.0 was just as bad. 8.1 fixed most of the issues and made it ready for production. I don't think we've seen 9.1 yet because 9.0 still has a LOT to fix.

Yeah. I hope so. But I noticed on a Parallels KB article that, for example, Migration Manager isn't slated to appear until Plesk 9.2 (not 9.1) so it is going to be a long slog before 9.x is ready for production use. Of course a KB article isn't an official release schedule, but it seems reasonable that this is how things will be.Highland wrote:I don't think we've seen 9.1 yet because 9.0 still has a LOT to fix.

Re: update plesk 8.6 to 9.01
Plesk 9.2.1 just popped up in the repos, it looks like the migration manager is in it.

Re: update plesk 8.6 to 9.01
I also just got an email from Parallels about "Parallels Plesk Control Panel 9.2 Available "
Looks like they finally fixed their firewall bug that has been there for about a year
"proc_close() failed: mktime()" error displayed upon activation of new Firewall rules bug is fixed.

Re: update plesk 8.6 to 9.01
So when can we expect 9.2.1 to be available in the Plesk repo?

Its in there right now
Re: update plesk 8.6 to 9.01
hm, sorry guys, back to my first (maybe stupid) question: is it safer to do 'yum update psa*' or just 'yum update'? I'm afraid that 'yum update' is a possible source for additional errors..
btw. anybody updated already?

Re: update plesk 8.6 to 9.01
Mixed reactions on the Parallels board (par for the course, really).
I would do "yum update psa" first. That will grab just the core files first and you can always come back and grab the others later. Keep in mind that this upgrade will take your server offline while it is updating the psa package (downtime depends on how many domains you have installed).

Re: update plesk 8.6 to 9.01
I've tried the update but am having no luck.
Running Cent 4.7
I added the atomic repos ( wget -O -q - http://www.atomicorp/installers/atomic.sh | sh )
enabled the plesk repository, selected version 9.
did "yum upgrade psa"
got "Could not find update match for psa"
tried "yum update psa" (just for trying)
Got "could not find update match for psa"
Any suggestions much appreciated!

make sure your /etc/yum.repos.d/plesk.repo is accurate
