Urgent Advices - MySQL 4.1 PSA integration issue

Unread post by knocx »

2 days ago we had upgraded mySQL to 4.1 from yum repository , after than that we had lots of problem any way we had handled all of these such as old-password format etc...

But the main problem is that we have to start mysql with following options

[mysqld]
default-character-set=latin5
default-collation=latin5_turkish_ci

and if we do that we get this error;

dnsmng Unable to define dns zone for domain : Illegal Mix of Collations (latin5_turkish_ci,IMPLICIT) and latin1_swedish_ci,COERCIBLE for operation '='

when we remove the charset and collation PSA works OK...

this may be normal since collations does not match ,

* We can not downgrade to an MySQL since we got lots of problems as there are databases already created by clients on 4.1 we
receive File '/usr/share/mysql/charsets/?.conf' not found (Errcode: 2) which seems like a werd issue to resolve

i see lots of people saying that 4.1 is ok with 7.5.4
but we can not get it work like above, any idea helping on that subject matter will be great

it seems this is a bug with 4.1.14

please check http://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=12371

from the page
--------------------
The problem is exists in mysql 4.1.14
but it is ok in mysql 4.1.12/4.1.13.
--------------------

do you plan to fix the distro according to the bug?

interestingly this error does not occur when adding/deleting users , databases, but when adding / removing a domain , so this problem is not originated from mySQL i think , it is more likely that this is a bug in plesk

any ideas

It looks like this is another of those many UTF8 conversion issues. I'll be honest, you're going to keep running into this kind of thing in application after application.

we already post it as usual PLESK dont send a response :) hardly (after 3 days) we have rolled it back to 4.0 seems working well for now

Why dont you offer your PSA yum channel for a certain price , including support , such a thing will be great for professional service seekers.
