art and suse possible? :)

Unread post by Waylander »

hi,

first, again, sorry for my bad english:)

the search for "suse" here give not much anwers. so i ask...:)

last month... our hoster schlund (a german hoster, 5mio domains) and the sister comp. 1+1 dropped all init installations but suse :( so we order a new rootserver, only suse 9.1(schlund) - 9.3(1+1) will comin with plesk 7.5.

scott, any chances (in near/middle future) that suse will supported by art?

thanks

way
scott

Ive had one or two people ask me about it, but I havent made any serious steps at supporting it. Its a pretty big change from the Redhat derived designs (Fedora/ES/CentOS).

You could always go to another hosting company. Personally I like CentOS or RHEL for hosting environments. They have a 5 year support cycle, so you'll know that you wont have to change everything again in 6 months.

thats true, but i think ive not the skills to migrate some psa driven server (while up and running) to another hoster and OS :(

and... I would stay by rh/fedora/rhel... just our HOSTER skip the support :(
they still have init imiges of fc2, debian... but ONLY suse come with a 100domain plesk license included. for all other systems you have to buy a plesk license... grrrr

and the next prob, i think rh9 is near its eol too, what you think how long rh9 will supported by art?

sorry again for my english :)
