I just got a new server and updated mysql to 5.5 from the atomic repo after which i went on to install atomic secure linux. The server works fine up until I install a WAF update which becomes available exactly a calendar date after the installation of ASL, after the update the server becomes unresponsive meaning I cant ping it, I cant log in. I have to hard-reboot it to bring it back online.
So far it doesnt appear to be a hardware issue because the server operates fine without ASL.
Help please?
Server: CentOS 6.5 / Plesk 11.5

Re: Server repeatedly going down
Are you sure it was down? I was personally on your server from Friday morning through Monday afternoon and it didnt go down once, and there were tons of WAF updates during this time. I tried repeatedly to reproduce what you said caused this, and nothing ever happened on your system, it kept running fine. Update after update. I couldnt find any logs to show the server crashed either. It just looks like someone rebooted it.
How are you testing this? And when you couldnt access your system, when you logged in via serial console, what did you see?
I suspect you may just be getting shunned, or perhaps something else is preventing access to your server because your server definitely wasnt down it was up the entire time.

^ I have bad karma, the problem never produces itself when someone's there to fix it.
Yeah, it worked for those 4 days, I then said that I wanted to reinstall the system to make sure it wasn't a fluke. Reinstalled it, updated WAF and it started to go down again.
The reboots you saw was me issuing hard reboot commands from the data center panel. I looked into shunning but the logs did not show any evidence of that.
I initially suspected that mysql 5.5 was causing the issue, installed mysql 5.5 from remi's repo but the problem returned.
The thing is, the server only starts to go down after I install ASL (and update it).
I've just bought a new server, going to do all this on that to make sure it's not a hardware issue.
