1and1 Plesk 8 FC4

Unread post by phatPhrog »

Has anyone reimaged their server with Plesk 8/FC4 on 1and1 yet?

If so, perhaps someone can help me.

This box doesn't have ASL so I have attempted to install mod_security manually but I can't get httpd-devel to install.

Keep getting:

Code: Select all

Error: Missing Dependency: apr-util-devel is needed by package httpd-devel
Error: Missing Dependency: kernel-headers >= 2.2.1 is needed by package glibc-headers
Error: Missing Dependency: kernel-headers is needed by package glibc-headers
Dependency errors with rkhunter also.

Thanks

rkhunter

I had the fedora channels and your ART channels in the yum.conf, but again this server is not ASL enabled. I think I'm going to buy a script for ASL tonight though.

Moving up to ASL, am I still going to have these dependency problems?

Plesk 8.0/FC4, mySQL 4.1.16-1.FC4.1, PHP 5.0.4-10.5 with ioncube, HTTPD 2.0.54-10.3, Linux 2.6.16-rc6-060317a, etc, etc...all running on a 1and1 dedicated.

BTW the missing dependency for rkhunter was - prelink

rkhunter and Watchdog module

Unread post by phatPhrog »

Interesting. the Watchdog 2.0 module uses rkhunter 1.2.7 for security checks, so I suppose that would be one resolution?

Now, should I go with ASL on this server. I have come to trust mod_security way too much to ignore it unless this update provides it somewhere also.

You shouldnt have those dependencies pop up with ASL, assuming you've got sources for the channels in your yum.conf (base/updates/asl). If you do run into any issues, let us know, and we'll see what we can do about fixing it. As a side note I've got a new ASL release in the asl-testing channel now. There are a few minor cosmetic tweaks left to go, and it will be out in the main channel.

I was able to successfully install modsecurity on our newly imaged 1and1 root III server with the latest FC4 and Plesk 8 image. I didn't have any problems whatsoever.

Same here. After adding ASL to the server, the updates/installs went without a hitch

Thanks Scott.
