Scott when will the 8.0 channel be tested and OK'd??
Don't particularly want to be a tester for these things lol
And what do I add to up2date to access??
I tried:
# Atomicrocketturtle channels
yum atomic http://3es.atomicrocketturtle.com/atomic/art/3ES/
yum atomic-psa8 http://3es.atomicrocketturtle.com/atomic/psa8/3ES/
But got the following message:

There was a fatal error communicating with the server. The message was:
An HTTP error occurred:
URL: http://3es.atomicrocketturtle.com/atomi ... eader.info
Status Code: 404

the right lines to use are:
Code: Select all
# Atomicrocketturtle channels
yum atomic http://3es.atomicrocketturtle.com/atomic/art/3ES/
yum atomic-psa8 http://3es.atomicrocketturtle.com/atomic/psa-8.0/3ES/

Thanks that fixed it. Still got a error but not sure if its to do with atomic or not.. But damn!!! what a HUGE list.. How the hell do I know whats safe to install and what not to?? lol
Code: Select all
[root@continent1 rhn]# up2date -l

I havent started using PSA 8.0 yet myself, so from my perspective I probably wont even be able to test for another week or so. That being said, Ive got some really really good testers these days that really run the archive through the ringer (and I always could use more!), so I'm not the bottleneck these days on testing.... I am the bottleneck on maintenance and upkeep though.
In terms of priority right now, Im working on the OS Installer (muhahaha. My most diabolical plan to date) and we're waiting for 1and1's update system to get back online to finish that off. That might delay psa 8.0 another week, however once its in place the nefarious network installer will not only rekick a box with the OS of your choosing (well.. Fedora or CentOS) it will also install PSA 7.5/8.0, ART, and even ASL. Sort of like Atomic-PSA, but in this case, Atomic OS-of-your-choosing.

ehm....
RooMeat you have a bunch of redhat updgrades to do...
starting from the kernel!!!
and also chkconfig, curl, gcc, grep, make and so on...
RHEL 3ES is now at version "update 6"...
if i were in you i would remove the 2 lines related to the atomic REPO, update the OS with the official repos (rhel-i386-es-3,rhel-i386-es-3-extras,rhel-i386-es-3-devsuite) and then... after *you are* sure you wanna upgrade your plesk i would add the psa-8.0 channel

i'm not a serve geek too... but i've updated my kernel serveral times using the rhel3es rpm... and 0 problems pops up after the upgrades... nor in plesk, nor with others applications....RooMeat wrote:So it's safe to update the kernal these days?? (I am not a great server geek.. just follow what I read).. I was always under the impression that upgrading the kernal breaks things.. especially within plesk??
if you are unsure follow this guide:
http://www.eth0.us/rpm-kernel
particulary attention to this command:
lilo -R
in that way your server will try to load the system with the new kernel, if it failm the next reboot it will start with the old one

LOL.. well.. as per usual.. I seem to be able to break that good luck. I tried and the system dd not come back up. Now I have a reboot ticket in to get it going again.EvolutionCrazy wrote:i'm not a serve geek too... but i've updated my kernel serveral times using the rhel3es rpm... and 0 problems pops up after the upgrades... nor in plesk, nor with others applications....
