PHP 5.0.4 upgrade problem

It is a Feed Gator (Joomla Component) script. Every 4 hours it pulls RSS Feeds and parses them into Joomla.

However, there is one thing I have noticed that may be contributing and that is the fact that the php/session directory is unwriteable.
