So php-4.4.2-3.rhfc2.art has no module?
I've no experience in building rpm; is there a way to have mcrypt working on your old php versions? Do you think the one for php5 could work?

There was one for 4.4.2, only available as a src.rpm now. The 5.0.4 version is only going to work with other 5.0.4 components.
