RHEL4 and PHP 5.2

Unread post by acidbox »

Any plans to make a PHP 5.2 distribution for RHEL4? :)

Yes, in another thread I mentioned it (I should probably do a blog for this stuff), I'll be doing php 5.2 packages next. I'll probably drop 5.1 since that is already covered in FC5 and Centosplus.

An ART blog would be nice, yes.

Long time no post. I've dropped Plesk from my servers but I found myself back here today looking for an RPM for PHP 4.4.4.

In any case, I actually have a tutorial on building RHEL/CentOS 4 RPMs for PHP 5.2.0 on my blog if you're interested. That should tide you over until Scott whips out some RPMs for his repos.

Installing PHP 5.2.0 with RPMs on RHEL & CentOS 4

You're already running Joomla, right? Just post your 'blog posts' to your website as news articles. By the way, I once signed up for an account to be able to leave comments on the Joomla part of atomicrocketturtle.com but I never received my account details. I wanted to let you know I will probably using AOOI to reinstall a couple of Fedora servers with CentOS. I'll let you know how it goes.

Yeah its all Joomla, which I really havent put the time into playing with like I should have. I was playing around with some block content the other day, and I got bogged down in formatting. I can knock out a zillion rpms in a few minutes, but look and feel stuff just eats up my time like you wouldnt believe. Im tempted to just write all this out in the Changelog or something.

Nice Scott. Thanks for the update. I've been playing with PHP 5.2 and man is it WAY better. The i18n support in 5.2 is far superior to 5.1, especially when using time zones.

PHP 5.2 in the main channel would be nice.
PHP 5.0 is old now.
