up2date on RHEL 4

Unread post by iquark »

I have a Planet server running Plesk 8.1 and RHEL 4. I have setup the yum paths in my RHEL sources for up2date and when I try to run it I get the following error:
up2date -l
There was a fatal error communicating with the server. The message was:

An HTTP error occurred:
URL: http://3es.atomicrocketturtle.com/atomi ... eader.info
Status Code: 404
Error Message: Not Found
I have noticed a few other people with this problem as well. Is the solution to simply install yum? If so, is there a good online tutorial on how to do that for RHEL 4? I have found this one: http://www.eth0.us/yum-rhel but it appears to be slightly out of date.

Also I noticed that the path: http://3es.atomicrocketturtle.com/atomi ... 6/headers/ does not actually exist. Is the fix just to update this path location in my sources setup? Here is what I currently have
Should the last line be
instead?

Thank you for all your help!

Ah, had the path wrong for the up2date people. Should be fixed now. I'll have to see if I can get the up2date configs into an rpm like I did for the yum users.

Scott,

The same problem exists for the CentOS4 files. http://3es.atomicrocketturtle.com/atomi ... repomd.xml does not exist either.

Updated the download page. This wont be going on much longer, I'll get an rpm for the psa channels and up2date soon. I very much want everyone to get away from manual configurations. Oh and if someone can shoot me some VPS's to screw around with, I'll see what I can do about getting the auto-configure script to set up yum automatically as well.

The download page versions still don't work for all configurations. For example, one server I have uses CentOS4.3 on an Athlon64. Using the specified string of:
baseurl=http://3es.atomicrocketturtle.com/atomi ... erES/$arch
resolves to:
http://3es.atomicrocketturtle.com/atomi ... repomd.xml
(Error 404).

The page it should actually point to appears to be:
http://3es.atomicrocketturtle.com/atomi ... s/4/x86_64

The auto-configure script bombed on this server because CentOS4.3 is not listed. Time to update it anyway...
