PHP 4.4.4 RPM rebuild on Fedora 5

Unread post by cwickham »

I need to run PHP4 on my Fedora 5 server running PSA 8.1. How ever, every time I try to rebuild the rpm it errors out. Ive gotten past the kerbos problem, and the RPMs build all the way past the test phase but then it just crators. Does any one know of a solution? Ive crawled the web already and cant find anything for my situation. Any help will be much appreciated!

Here is the error:

+ popd
/usr/src/redhat/BUILD/php-4.4.2
+ pushd build-apache
/usr/src/redhat/BUILD/php-4.4.2/build-apache /usr/src/redhat/BUILD/php-4.4.2
+ make install-sapi INSTALL_ROOT=/var/tmp/php-root
make: *** No rule to make target `install-sapi'. Stop.
error: Bad exit status from /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.87179 (%install)

yeesh... php4 on a FC5 box huh. You're in for a world of hurt on that. My recommendation, do this on another box first (vmware works great). Make sure you install everything in the development group and/or just install everything when you build the box. Then try again.

When you say another box, do you mean an older version of fedora or just another machine? This machine isnt quite in production just yet. I think this is the last step but just cant get it done.

Or just go with CentOS 4 instead. :)
