Centos php5 - slightly odd question

Unread post by faris »

Um...I don't quite understand something. Can someone enlighten me please?

The CentosPlus repo for Centos 4 has PHP5. Why bother having a different set here? I know your version is more up to date than the CentosPlus one but surely they will catch up extremely shortly (especially if the security problem is critical)? Or will they? Is that what I'm missing - that they are being too slow to put out an update?

Well I'm supporting more than CentOS4 here, when I build packages its for all distributions at the same time. I usually start with the FC7 or Fedora-Extras package, look for the latest updates from the upstream provider, and then make the backport adjustments for all the older distros.
