If you've removed relaylock from server_args, I guess you have also removed the possibility to let your clients use your SMTP server as a relay. But maybe your clients are not using your SMTP server to send mail out on the internet?

I'm having this same problem on Centos 4.4 with Plesk 8.1, but I haven't updated clamav, I installed .90 straight off of the ART servers.

I'll be needing relaylock since my users will be using my server to send email.

Yes, yes! "relaylock" noch "...host". Sorry!
And i talk about the one from Plesk 8.1. It block all my incoming emails. The clients aren't blocked, because they use SMTP-Auth. This didn't changed after i had removed it from server_args.
I turned it on again, because i'm not sure about this turnaround. :(
So my question was and is: What the hell this program do?

Has anyone found a fix yet to this problem (besides removing relaylock)?
I still haven't been able to successfully install qmail-scanner, so I'm not doing any virus scanning.

There seem to be several threads describing a similar issues with qmail-scanner.

I've had/have the same problem, but I think I've managed to fix it..

First I removed clamd, clamav, clamav-db and project-gamera

Reinstalled the same

Removed all logfiles from /var/log/clamav

ran sh /etc/cron.daily/freshclam

restart service clamd

then I have these logfiles:
-rw-r----- 1 qscand qscand 1839 Apr 21 11:05 clamd.log
-rw-r--r-- 1 clamav clamav 259 Apr 21 11:02 freshclam.log

What I also noticed was if I changed AllowSupplementaryGroups (clamd conf) from yes to no, clamd failed when I tried to restart it. So, this should be set to yes.

After I restarted clamd I sent testviruses from http://www.aleph-tec.com/eicar/index.php and it failed at first sight because clamd was still reading its databases from /var/clamav. It took atleast one minute to read the db. When it finished I sent new testviruses and now it worked...

not sure if this helps anyone.. but seems that it worked for me...

I was having your same problem.

The fix:
Update clamd and qmail-scanner.
Restart clamd
Run qmail-scaner-reconfigure
Restart qmail.

At least its working and scanning the emails, but i need a reboot to check everything is in order.

Yet another reason why using a separate /tmp partition is not recommended
