Yum And Plesk Updater Error

Yum And Plesk Updater Error

hello guys hope all is well i have a bad feeling about this i went to do a yum update and i got this

[root@srv01 yum.repos.d]# yum update
Loading "installonlyn" plugin
Setting up Update Process
Setting up repositories
Could not retrieve mirrorlist http://mirrorlist.centos.org/?release=5 ... 64&repo=os error was
[Errno 4] IOError: <urlopen error (-3, 'Temporary failure in name resolution')>
Error: Cannot find a valid baseurl for repo: base

Then i went into the plesk admin interface and got this when i clicked on the updater.

Error: Error! Failed to read product information from the file versions.inf3
Failed to download the package http://autoinstall.plesk.com/versions.inf3:
Couldn't resolve host 'autoinstall.plesk.com'
Not all packages were installed.
Please, resolve the above problem and try installing the packages again.
If you cannot resolve the problem on your own, contact product technical support for assistance..

I am so at a loos for even trying to figure this one out can anyone make heads or tails of i i would greatly appricate it and will buy pizza!!! :)

That means your DNS isnt working

according to plesk, the VZPP and service --status-all named is running

check your dns settings in /etc/resolv.conf, if nameserver 127.0.0.1 is listed, then your local nameserver is not working.

if it is listen do i just delete it??

this is what is listed in /etc/resolv.conf

search area51web.com
nameserver 206.251.76.2


now my host name is srv01.area51web.net and domain is area51web.net should this be changed

that means that the DNS server you are using, 206.251.76.2, is not working. I recommend getting a list of working dns servers from your provider, and adding the nameserver 127.0.0.1 line to the config.

all fixed and it was a DNS issue for both yum and plesk updater from the providers side not mine
