ClamD, SA, Qmail-Scanner = Spining Head

Unread post by jjjheimer »

I've recently removed the drweb and psa-spamassassin packages included in psa opting instead to use ART's clamav, qmail-scanner and spamassassin. The problem I've run into involves the qmail-scanner. When its installed no email is transferred, more specifically it can't be received. From the mail log it appeared the qmail-scanner and spamd were operating correctly. However, I don't seem to have clamd file or clamd.conf anywhere. Additionally, I'd like to change the config for spamd - where you guys find the best docs? It seems like a lot is configured out of the box - how do I establish a baseline on what works best?

OS - Centos 3.5
Plesk - 7.5.3
Repos - Centos & ART 7.5

Check and make sure you have the "clamd" rpm installed, thats the server part of clamav that qmail-scanner would use. It all used to be in one rpm called clamav, but they recently for whatever reason, broke out the server piece into its own daemon. It might change again in the future to "clamav-server", as thats the naming convention used by the Fedora Extra's project. Which sucks I know, but I'm not making the clamav rpms anymore, and we've got three conflicting "standards" out there in the world until one of them wins :P
