Hi All,
I have just had to move my Plesk (which is now 9.5.2 on centos 5 ) server because the old dds company got bought out and the new owners said I had to. After the change over I forgot to set the 'Relaying Options' to none (my customers seem to have the worst passwords). And today one of the email accounts got guessed and used for a short time to send some spam. A lot of it was stuck in the queue and i managed to deleted it.
One weird thing is still happening...
Some messages (like spam reports sent by my 4PSA software to me and a few of my clients) appear to generate bounce messages for addresses I know nothing about. The email addresses are alphabetical and look like the ones targetted in the spam stuck in the mail queue.
It looks like these internal reports are also being sent to a lot of other receipients, some of which dont exist, and therefore generating the bounce message.
Has anybody seen this before with Plesk or 4Psa?
Does any one know where I can look to see why these emails are also being sent out to many people?
regards
Justin.
bizarre bounces
Re: bizarre bounces [ update ]
It has all settled down.
My guess is that something broke when the system was overloaded with emails.
it could have been qmail or 4psa spam guardian (now removed)
