Missing Plesk 10 Application Vault

Unread post by KrazyBob »

I have gone around and around with Plesk support and I am getting nowhere. In prior versions of Plesk the server administrator could see the free applications (Joomla, Wordpress, etc.) installed on the server, as well as download earlier versions for migration compatibility, as well as upload new ones from the APS SaaS repository. Clicking on Application Vault in Plesk 10 does not show applications pre-installed on the server. It only shows sites that have installed an application. The domain administrator sees them though. One can click on control panel for an individual domain and add the applications.

Why can't I see the applications already installed by default? Why can't I see a link to the APS catalog to update the free versions of public domain applications?

Plesk support tells me that I need to:

Go to Server Administration Panel > Tools & Utilities > Application Vault > Installed Apps tab > Go to Online Store.

and buy the free applications -- that the domain administrator can already see them from his control panel and install Joomla, for example, for free. I don't even have a link to a store! I think

What the heck am I missing? I have an unlimited license. A moot point if the domain administrator can see the applications likie Joomla, Wordpress, etc.

I am very, very frustrated after waiting days for Support to respond and now that they are they are talking in circles. Please accept my apology if I am being rude.

Applications are no longer managed from a global perspective in Plesk 10. They are managed in Service Plans and do not allow earlier versions to be installed in the manner as before. Removing applications has also changed as well as updating current applications. It is not intuitive. In prior versions one could view the APS Catalog inside Plesk and pick and choose what you wanted, even out-dated versions. This made migrations easier than using rsync to bring older apps over from the source. Not in Plesk 10. You have to rsync or go to the APS repository and find what you want, download it to your PC, and then upload it back to Plesk 10. One then has to assign it to service plans.
