Error While Trying The Yum Command ( Fedora Core 6 )

Unread post by laztrix »

Hi,

I recently try to update my server using yum command but whatever I do I receive this error:

# yum update
Setting up Update Process
Setting up repositories
http://www.atomicorp.com/channels/atomi ... repomd.xml: [Errno 4] IOError: <urlopen error (-3, 'Temporary failure in name resolution')>
Trying other mirror.
Error: Cannot open/read repomd.xml file for repository: atomic

I checked out many websites but I have not found something that solves this problem.

I would appreciate If someone could help me about this.

It looks like it is what it is, a temporary failure connecting to the atomic repo from your location. Can you access the URL directly in your browser?

You didn't mention, are you still having the problem connecting via yum?

There is a topic at fedoraforum.org which may help: http://fedoraforum.org/forum/showthread.php?t=52921 and Google threw up lots of stuff with plenty of diagnosis tips: http://www.google.com/search?q=yum+temp ... resolution

Good luck

If you're still running Fedora Core 6, I'd start looking into a migration to a supported OS. I believe Fedora Core 6 reached end of life over a year ago.

What happens on your machine if you run these commands:

nslookup www.atomicorp.com

and

wget http://www.atomicorp.com/channels/atomi ... repomd.xml

wget http://www.atomicorp.com/channels/atomic/fedora/6/x86_64/repodata/repomd.xml
--20:49:22-- http://www.atomicorp.com/channels/atomic/fedora/6/x86_64/repodata/repomd.xml
Resolving www.atomicorp.com... 82.165.242.46
Connecting to www.atomicorp.com|82.165.242.46|:80... failed: No route to host.
this happens.

Don't know if this is related but I have had a really hard time reaching ART frontpage and forums the since Friday. The changelog has always been working though...

Now I have CentOS 6 installed but the same problem.

How would it help if I give you the IP adress wich I'm trying to connect?

Other repos are working fine, only atomicturttle does not!
