RHFC1 php rpm's

Where are the rpm's in the FC1 channel that contains php ?

The build environment for FC1 is offline for right now, so I haven't been updating that distro. You should be able to use the packages from rh9 though.

did i quick check and i need to fix some dependencies. Wont do it it is working fine and from October 15th we will move the entire platform to new servers. So FC1 is finaly out the produktion range *sigh*

Hi,

I'm currently using FC1 (psa 7.5.2) which is running php-4.3.10-3.rhfc1.art on a production server. I really need to upgrade to a later version of php for a few reasons...

So i've changed my yum.conf to use the rh9 art channel. Although when i do a "yum update php" i get the following

Do I need to uninstall existing php and related packages before trying to run "yum install php"?

I'm a bit worried about doing something like this as it is a production server that has some busy sites, so if something does go wrong I obviously cannot afford for things to be down for too long.

Also if this is my best option how would i go about backing up and restoring php and related packages if the sh#$ does hit the fan?

I would really appreciate any help and advice anyone could give.

I was worried something like that might happen, it looks like the rh9 channel wont be compatible after all. I'm not sure how Im going to handle this, SW-Soft will be ending support for RH9 and FC1 at the end of december, so you'll probably need to upgrade your OS soon anyway. That being said, with my build environment still down, on top of the fact that the FC1 environment has a nasty bug in it, I can't give any kind of ETA on responding to FC1.

Thanks for your reply and for the great service you give to the community by offering these channels and forums.

I think I've come to the same realisation myself and will have to setup a new server and move everything to it.

Would you recommend either FC4 or CentOS 4.x as the best choice for the new OS? I think I would be quite keen to get the latest PHP 5 (and 5.1 when it is released) and I know only FC4 offers this currently, but also that Sw-soft has no immediate plans to support FC4 in Plesk.

Maybe I'll have to wait a little while before all these are better supported...
